Main factors affecting the life of lead-acid battery life

Main factors affecting the life of lead-acid battery lifeThe battery is an important part of the UPS system, which is directly related to the reliability of the entire UPS system. Regardless of how advanced UPS design, how free, once the battery is invalid, the good UPS cannot provide uninterruptible power supply. Don't use inferior lead-acid batteries because of the cheap map, which will affect the reliability of the entire UPS system and will cause greater losses.

The battery is the shortest portion of the entire UPS system in the UPS system. If you can use and maintain properly, you can extend its service life, and vice versa it will be greatly shortened. Therefore, we must understand the basic principles of the battery and precautions.

About lead-acid battery

The type of battery can generally be divided into lead-acid batteries, lead-acid-free maintenance storage batteries, and nickel-cadmium batteries, considering factors such as load conditions, use environment, life and cost, and cost, UPS generally select valve-controlled lead-acid-free maintenance storage. Its main feature is that oxygen is produced on the positive electrode plate during charging, and water is reduced to water on the negative electrode by chemical reaction, and there is no need to add water during the predetermined floating life. Therefore, it is also known as a maintenance lead-acid battery. Maintenance is only compared with ordinary batteries, it is not allowed to add pure water or distilled water during use, and the work of the electrolyte liquid is used, and all maintenance work is not removed. Instead, in order to achieve uninterruptible power supply of UPS, we must maintain and maintain lead-acid storage batteries more detachably.

The following describes what the main factors affecting the service life of the battery should be paid attention to:

(1) The ambient temperature affects the battery. The ambient temperature is too high, which will cause the battery to be charged generating gas. If the ambient temperature is too low, it will cause the battery to charge the battery, which will affect the battery life. Therefore, it is generally required that the ambient temperature is about 25 ° C, and the UPS floating voltage value is also set at this temperature. When actual application, the battery is typically charged in the range of 5 ° C to 35 ° C, which is less than 5 ° C or higher than 35 ° C, which greatly reduces the capacity of the battery, and shorten the battery life.

(2) The impact of discharge depth on battery life is also very large. The deeper the battery discharge depth, the less the number of cycles, so the depth discharge should be avoided during use. Although the UPS has battery low potential protection, the UPS will automatically shut down when the unit battery is discharged to about 10.5V. However, if the UPS is in a light discharge or no-load discharge, the depth discharge of the battery is also caused.

(3) The battery will lose part capacity due to self-discharge during storage, transportation, and installation. Therefore, before the installation is put into use, the remaining capacity of the battery should be determined according to the open circuit voltage of the battery, and then the battery is supplemented with the battery. A battery should be charged every 3 months. It can be determined by measuring the battery open circuit voltage. Take 12V battery as an example. If the open circuit is higher than 12.5V, it means that the battery energy storage has more than 80%, and if the open circuit voltage is below 12.5V, supplemental charging should be performed immediately. If the open circuit voltage is less than 12V, it means that the battery storage capacity is less than 20%, the battery is unworthy.

⑷ The battery charge current is generally expressed in C, and the actual value of C is related to the battery capacity. For example, 100 AH battery, C = 100A. Panasonic lead-acid free maintenance battery is about 0.1c, and the charging current cannot be greater than 0.3c. The charging current is too large or too small to affect the battery life. The discharge current is generally required between 0.05c to 3c, and the UPS can meet this requirement in normal use, but it is also necessary to prevent accidental conditions, such as battery short circuits.

⑸ ⑸ ⑸ 电压. Since the UPS battery is a standby mode of operation, the main situation is in the state of electricity, only when power is powered off. In order to extend the service life of the battery, the UPS charger is generally controlled by constant voltage limit. After the battery is full, it is converted to a floating state, and each floating voltage is set to around 13.6V. If the charging voltage is too high, it will charge the battery, which will make the battery insufficient charging. The charging voltage abnormality may be caused by a battery configuration error, or due to the charger failure. Therefore, when installing the battery, be sure to pay attention to the correctness of the battery, the quantity of the number, different specifications, and different batches of batteries do not mix. Do not use inferior chargers, and consider heat dissipation during installation. At present, in order to further improve battery life, advanced UPS uses an ABM (Advanced Battery Management) three-stage intelligent battery management scheme, that is, charging is initialized to initialize charging, floating charge and rest three stages: the first stage is constant current equalization Charging, charge the battery capacity to 90%; the second phase is a floating charge, charge the battery capacity to 100%, then stop charging; the third stage is natural discharge, in this stage, the battery uses its own leakage current discharge, Also until the lower limit of the specified voltage, then repeat the three stages mentioned above. In this way, after the previous charge is filled, it still has a floating state of the battery in 24 hours, so it extends the life of the battery.

⑹-free maintenance battery, due to the adoption of the absorption electrolyte system, no gas is generated during normal use, but if the user uses improper use, the battery will generate a gas, at which time the battery internal pressure will increase, and the battery The pressure valve on the upper pressure valve will be severely burst.

⑺ UPS During operation, pay attention to monitor the end voltage value of the battery pack, a floating current value, a voltage value of each battery, a battery pack, and a pair of on-site resistance and insulation.

⑻ Do not increase or reduce the load of several monomer batteries in the battery pack, which will result in uniformity of unbalanced cell capacity and charging, reduce battery life.

⑼ Battery should be installed as much as possible in clean, cool, ventilated, dry, and avoid the effects of sunlight, heater or other radiation heat sources. The battery should be placed correctly and cannot be tilted. The terminal connection of each battery is secure.

⑽ Turn regularly. The battery should be periodically inspected after a certain period of time, such as observing whether the appearance is abnormal, measuring whether the voltage of each battery is average. If the battery will continue to be charged for a long time, the battery will make the activity of the battery becomes poor. Therefore, even if it is not stopped, the UPS also requires regular discharge tests to keep the battery. The discharge test can generally be carried out three months, the practice is the UPS load - preferably in more than 50%, then disconnect the main electricity, so that the UPS is in the battery discharge, and the discharge duration is generally a few MS to Dozens MS, restore the city power supply after discharge, continue to charge the battery.

Understanding and clearing the main factors affecting the life of lead-acid batteries and matters that should be noted during use, there is a great help of our proper use and maintenance lead-acid batteries in the UPS system.

I hope that everyone will properly use and maintain lead-acid batteries in their daily work to make it more reasonable.  Recommend: LiFePO4 Battery Manufacturer Energy storage battery Manufacturer Integrated machine energy storage battery series Manufacturer Lead lithium battery Manufacturer Outdoor Backup Battery Manufacturer Portable outdoor power supply Manufacturer Power battery Manufacturer Powerwall LiFePO4 Battery Manufacturer Battery rack Manufacturers Telecom LiFePO4 Battery Manufacturer Wall mounted battery storage Manufacturer China Lifepo4 Battery
